Hello, i am a 19 year old norwegian boy, born to a Norwegian father and thai mother. And i was thinking about getting thai citizenship since norway just made it legal. But the thing that bugs me is the thai military draft, which age is it?

And i wonder if i get a thai passport before i turn 20 must i then go throuhg the draft, or is it possible for me to acquire thai citizenship after i turn 20 and slip away from the military draft?

Hope you guys can help:)

You have had Thai nationality since your were born. The only thing you my lack is proof of it. All that is needed for that is a birth certificate. Where were you born?

You are liable for the draft until the age of 30. During the year when you are 21 years old is when they do the draw for it.

Moved to the family and children forum.

As you were born in Norway you need to apply for a Thai birth certificate with the Thai embassy for your country. You will need the help of your mother with this. Once you have the birth certificate the Thai government is aware of your birth as a Thai national and you can apply for your Thai ID-card and passport.
