Border runs coming into Thailand getting two week or 30 day visa on arrival?

Featured Replies

I haven't taken a border run in a decade. I am wondering if they are giving 15 day visas or the 30 day Visa exemptions at Thai border crossings.

Thanks guys for any

information.

It depends on nationality if you qualify for visa exempt entry.  Visa on arrival is 15 days but only a few countries have that option - more have visa exempt entry providing 30 days.

You will get a 30 day visa exempt entry at a land border crossing.

The 15 day rule was rescinded in January of 2017 when the 2 entry per calendar year rule at at land border crossing went into effect.

You get a 30 day visa exempt entry by land, sea or air.

In your case it has been since November of 2015 you would of gotten 30 days at a land border crossing (G7 country rule).

Just don't use poipet.

Because they deny entries for no valid reason. Many reports about it.

As UBJ replied they are not border/visa run friendly. Very possible they will let you leave but not return on the same day. Might mean getting a bus/taxi to the next nearest border crossing. Hassle you don't want or need.

It's often posted, then confirmed and then denied, that you have to spend 24 hours in Cambodia except in some circumstances. I don't want to start a dicussion on that, it's been done to death many times.

Poipet will quote that sometimes to deny one day out/in even if it is a Cambodian requirement.

And Poipet is a major sh!thole. And very scary. I dont find anywhere else in Cambodia to be scary. But Poipet has a really bad vibe to it.
