BANGKOK (Reuters) - Philip Morris urged Thailand to drop criminal charges against its Thai subsidiary on Saturday, after a second World Trade Organization (WTO) ruling that the Asian nation had failed to comply with regulations on cigarette imports.

Cabinet swearing-in set for coming Tuesday (July 16)

New Bt70-billion toll motorway from west of Bangkok to upper South planned for 2024

The Department of Highways has set a deadline of 2024 to open a new Bt70-billion toll motorway linking the Bangkok border province of Nakhon Pathom with Cha-am district in Phetchaburi province. The department has dismissed local calls for the new road to connect with an existing highway.

Over 6.7 billion baht expected to circulate on Asalha Puja Day, Buddhist Lent Day

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thanawat Pholwichai, director of the University of Thai Chamber of Commerce’s Center for Economic and Business Forecasting, said the people are expected to spend some 6.7 billion baht on Asalha Puja Day and Buddhist Lent Day this year, accounting for a 3.5% increase from last year. Most plan to spend money on leisure trips and merit-making activities on the public holidays.

Citibank predicts 3.3% Thai economic growth this year

BANGKOK 2019 (NNT) - Citibank has made its latest adjustments to its global economic analysis, expecting a slight deceleration from the trade war. The bank now expects the Thai economy to expand up to 3.3 percent, urging the new government to stimulate the domestic economy.

Cha Am: Bypass traffic paralyzed by pile up after trucker falls asleep at the wheel

Sanook reported that traffic on the Cha Am to Pranburi bypass came to a standstill for half an hour yesterday afternoon after a ten wheel truck carrying wood plowed into cars and trucks waiting at the Bang Chang Thaeng Krajat intersection lights.
