webfact
Heavy rains, strong winds predicted for 25 provinces By The Nation The Meteorological Department has warned residents of southern, eastern and lower central provinces on Thursday to brace themselves for heavy rains and strong winds caused by the influence of the monsoon and tropical storm Danas. In its ninth warning related to Danas issued at 5am on Thursday, the department said tropical storm Danas from the north of Luzon in the Philippines is likely to move north north-eastward into the East China Sea on Thursday and Friday. The warning said the influence of the storm coupled with the strong southwest monsoon prevailing across the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand would unleash heavy rains that may trigger flash flooding and water run-offs. The strong winds would also cause big waves about two to three metres high in the sea so small boats should stay ashore, the warning added. The affected areas are: Thursday, isolated heavy rain possible in the following provinces: Central: Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Lop Buri and Saraburi. East: Sa Kaeo, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat. South (east coast): Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. South (west coast): Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun. Friday, isolated heavy rain possible in: Central: Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Lop Buri and Saraburi. East: Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat. South (east coast): Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung and Songkhla. South (west coast): Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun. Guderian
There's zero consistency in reporting in this country. Today the TMD is warning of heavy rain across a good swathe of the country, while three days ago on Monday they were warning of a lack of rain, as reported by a Thai Visa news item: "The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is calling on people everywhere to save water as this year’s rainy season is expected to remain drier than normal. “There won’t be much rain between August and September,” the ministry’s permanent secretary Anan Suwannarat said on Monday, citing information from the Meteorological Department."

The new Minister for Agriculture and his Ministry only took office today. The other day he promised he would fix the drought problem and it looks like he is. On his first day in office and the heavy rains flooding have started already. Give him chance and he will get to the rest of you folk up country. He has spoken with the PM who is helping out with some frog stoking and whispering. Edited July 18, 2019 by Cadbury

It's different because we have now entered a period of exponential warming termed abrupt climate change. Sure the weather changes all the time but the climate hasn't changed at this rate in the last 100,000 years or longer, if ever.
Brunolem
1 hour ago, Jane Dough said: Beautiful weather in Bangkok...light rains to freshen up the daisy scented air. Unfortunately, Bangkok is a net consumer of food... meanwhile the net producers in Isaan don't get any rain. Considering that most, if not all, the farmers keep just enough rice to last one season, and sell all they can, there are going to be some very serious problems come the last quarter of this year, and next year. The government is going to have to draw into the huge piles of rice stored in multiple warehouses, in order to feed a large part of the population...

steve73
The BBC world weather map can be zoomed into anywhere, and gives an animation forecast of rain for upto a week every 6-8 hours... Not as accurate as the more local rain radar plots, but it's useful if you're looking to plan a bit further ahead. From what I've can make out it's reasonably good for 3-4 days ahead at least. https://www.bbc.com/weather/map
jany123
The genius solution to the flooding last year was to tether dozens of boats across the river to “pump” the water southwards..... maybe they should consider tethering thousands of fans together to blow the clouds into the north... same same only different ???? from the home of CC
very slow start to the typhoon season, once she gets rolling and you get one super typhoon that makes it to Vietnam and dumps it's energy in Thailand all bets will be off, people will be begging for the dry days..
