I have booked and paid for return flights from Heathrow to Bangkok in October with EVA, economy class. I have tried to reserve seats but it keeps flagging up a charge for this service, I have just found out that the charges were brought in earlier this year.

My question is, at what point can I reserve seats without incurring a charge, can it only be done at check-in?

Go the a EVA office near you and book it.

Just pay the charge.

A lot of companies use this ploy nowadays. If you want a new BMW, the base price is very cheap. That is until you go to the payable extras and find it’s an extra 3k for wheels ????

You can normally get them free of charge 24 hours before your flight. But by then you might not get the ones you want.

As above. I fly with them on same flight as you regularly. Only free at check in 24 hours prior.
