Chinese Woman shot dead in Sihanoukville attack

Featured Replies

A 25-year-old Chinese woman was shot dead in Sihanoukville on Tuesday and police are on the hunt to arrest three unidentified countrymen suspected of being involved in the murder. According to a General Department of Immigration statement yesterday, a Chinese woman was shot dead at about 11.30pm on Tuesday in Sihanoukville’s Bei commune by three unknown Chinese nationals.

Preah Sihanouk provincial police identified the victim as Zhang Dan, a staffer with SV Casino. The statement noted that on the night of the incident, Ms Dan and her boyfriend, Xiao Lizhi, also a Chinese national, walked out of SV Casino to head to a shop. When they reached a street corner near Coffee Shop 8811, the couple spotted a car parked nearby.

Two Chinese men walked out of the car and attempted to catch Ms Dan and Mr Lizhi, while another man is suspected to have been a driver waiting inside the car. As the victims tried to escape, a gun was fired and a bullet hit Ms Dan, killing her on the spot as the attackers fled the scene, the statement noted.
