webfact
Tropical depression 'Wipha' feeds 35 dams By The Nation The Royal Irrigation Department has reported that the water level in many dams, especially those in the Chao Phraya watershed, has risen thanks to the tropical depression Wipha. Thongplew Kongjun, the department’s director general, said the tropical depression has been bringing heavy rains since July 30, which has boosted water levels in 35 dams by about 2 billion cubic metres, with 633 million cubic metres in the four major dams in the Chao Phraya Basin. He added that Wipha has also brought rain to the North and Northeast, and increased the level of Nan River, which feeds the Sirikit Dam. Under Wipha’s influence, there has been heavy rain in the Central region as well as in the East of the country, which has increased water levels in Sri Nakarin and Vajiralongkorn dams by 736 million cubic metres. This water will be redirected to water-treatment plants before the water is distributed in the east of Bangkok. As I stated in a previous post, tenants on the estate where I live in rural khon Kaen, have been issued with large plastic containers to store water for emergency drought conditions as no rain and mains water rationing/shut down.
khwaibah
Mueang Surin or Surin City population of some 50,000 has been without water going on 7 days. The Huai Saneng reservoir their water source has gone dry. The army has kicked in with manpower and they are saying hopefully by tomorrow a 13 km 30 Inch water line that is being constructed from old abandoned rock quarries will start delivering water to the pump station. The authorities are delivering and rationing water to homes. Those that can are putting in their own bores. This is just one area in Isaan that is at risk and the FAKE NEWS reporting by TMD and the national rags are totally unacceptable. Below are just some of the local photos.
Burma Bill
This is the Mekong River at Nong Khai taken on the 3rd August 2019. Many sand bars have appeared which, this time of year, are usually covered by fast flowing water! So Bangkok get your "news" act together!
