Prayut Chan-o-cha

The opposition New Economics Party confirmed Tuesday that some of its six MPs will switch sides and join the coalition government of Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha.

Niyom Wiwatthanaditkul, deputy leader of the New Economics, admitted that some of his party MPs would move to work for the coalition but that he and party leader Mingkwan Saensuwan would remain aligned with the opposition.

Niyom was speaking to reporters after attending the meeting of opposition whips held at the Pheu Thai Party office. The meeting was chaired by chief opposition whip Suthin Klungsaeng. Whips from all seven opposition parties attended the meeting.

It has been speculated that the New Economics party would leave the opposition to join the coalition to boost the majority of the Prayut II government.

Niyom confirmed that his party would hold a press conference on Thursday to clarify the issue.

“Please wait for the press conference for the details,” Niyom said.

With no important position left to bargain with they'll use the next best thing.

Politicians make pledges to voters during an election campaign, and people vote accordingly.

Then you get <deleted> like these, who, now elected, feel free to change allegiance, (obviously for financial gain), leaving the people who voted for them and their, then, policies, in the lurch.

Another sad side of Thai politics.

They need to find out which insurance companies to buy stock in.

Closer to the through ...

They accepted an offer they couldn't refuse.

New Economics party supporting Sufficiency theory? Don't think that's legit. Methinks some brown envelopes passed to them.
