Public Health Ministry launches new anti-AIDS campaign

The Ministry of Public Health is launching a new campaign against AIDS disease as there are more AIDS patients in the past decade.

Md. Prakong Wittayasai, the Managing Director of Support the Children Foundation, says the previous campaign against AIDS helped reduce the number of AIDS patients since 1986. However, the number is rising at the moment Md. Prakong says the number of babies born to mothers infected with HIV is increasing even though the percentage is still low. She says the rising figure is due to the limited budget for the anti-AIDS campaign.

Md. Prakong says Thailand was once slow down the number of AIDS patients by educating the public of its dangers and how to protect themselves from the disease. Therefore, she would like the media to join the campaign and help solve AIDS problems.

She has asked the media, especially the Public Relations Department of the government, to support the campaign.
