Harman Kardon Aura dead; ridiculous repair offer

I've had an Harman Kardon Aura (1st gen) desktop speaker for a few years now, and it's always been working fine, until the other day, when there was no sound anymore (but everything else like BT connection from mobile, varying light with volume changes etc. works). I suspect it's a fuse or a power transistor or something along those lines that blew. Took it to the JBL/HK distributor office in Pattaya, they sent it to Bangkok, and I now had a repair offer for no less than THB 9,500... Note well, that a new Aura 2 (2nd gen) at a large electronics chain sells for THB 11,900 (not discounted), and you can buy them via Internet starting at THB 7,700...!!!

I'm utterly appalled by the nerve this distributor has - apparently no intention whatsoever to service their product. Anyone else with similar experiences? Anyone with an idea of an electronics "fix-it" shop in Pattaya where they still use a brain and a soldering iron?
