webfact
Thai schools: Yummy dinners are possible - if there's no corruption! Thai caption: Wow - Now that's a school dinner! A government school in Uthai Thani has shown what can be done if money intended for school lunches is not creamed off by corrupt school directors. Petch Nam Pheung school's lunchtime menu varies every day from local treats like khao man kai (chicken rice) and curry dishes to western hamburgers and french fries. The menu gives a nutritious and balanced diet to the children and met with great approval from netizens after appearing on "Drama-addict". It is in stark contrast to lunch at a school in Chainat where a kindergarten teacher who complained that it was nothing but cheap Mama noodles was transferred. Picture: Thai Rath She was quickly reinstated after a massive outcry from parents and students. The school's director then found himself transferred instead as an investigation began. The Uthai Thani school's menu is helped by being associated with a Tesco Lotus project in 77 schools. Children are encouraged to visit stores to select ingredients thus taking a proactive role in what goes into their school lunches. Katipo
....yummy dinners, decent health care, better education..... basically, Thailand would be at a similar level of development as South Korea or Taiwan.

dinsdale
More to the point, more teachers with better pay, more tech in classrooms, less students in each class, better learning outcomes, a more educated society, less crime etc. are all possible if there's no corruption.
