A woman in Bangkok was arrested Tuesday for allegedly using another person’s identity to apply for a credit card.

Woranan Thongsak, 47, was arrested by officers from the Economic Crime Suppression Division at her room at a condominium in Bangkok’s Bang Khen district.

Pol Col Phadol Jandon, commander of the ECS Subdivision 5, said Woranan was arrested under a warrant issued by the Phra Khanong Court.

Police obtained the arrest warrant after AEON Thana Sinsap (Thailand) filed a complaint with the division that she and her accomplices forged documents of a victim to apply for a credit card and used the credit card to shop and spend on services.

Phadol said Woranan and her accomplices, who were still at large, lured the victim into giving them her identity documents, saying they would apply for a loan on her behalf but instead using them to apply for a credit card.

Difficult to prevent this when copies of ID and Tabian Bahn are asked for by all and sundry. My wife scrawls all over the copies she provides the use to which they are intended (except TI of course!)
