Pheu Thai MP Sutin Klangsaeng has called on the government to take responsibility and resign if an important decree proposed by it, which will be vetted from Wednesday, was not passed by Parliament.

The government has drafted a decree to amend an important act on family affairs and submitted it to Parliament for approval on Wednesday. The house is supposed to pass the decree before the current parliamentary session ends on September 18.

Suthin, as a member of the opposition whip, said that the decree submitted by the government was an abuse of its authority through executive power. Submitting a decree would signify the government's own mistakes in legislating the act in the first place, and then again by submitting the decree, which he deemed an abuse of power.

Asked by reporters about a condition in the current Constitution that a government should resign only when a fiscally related act proposed by it was not passed by Parliament, Suthin said though this act concerned family affairs the Prayut government should follow a long-standing parliamentary tradition by resigning.

interesting he has run the government out of money including the tax money so one would think his days are numbered now wait till the flood damage bills start coming in wow

With a 3.2 trillion baht budget for national security, NO ONE will be resigning with that much swill in the trough....Come on Sutin, you should know better than that! Would'nt you just love to get your snout in there!

Sorry, but the only long standing parliamentary traditions I know of in Thailand are: (1) if the vote doesn't go your way, organize a coup; (2) if that doesn't work, book a one-way ticket overseas.

Of course the PTP wants to get their snout in there.. just like the government has now. They are all utterly corrupt and will do the same as the current government. Hypocrites all of them except perhaps future forward party. I seen how the PTP ruled and they also did not care about anything but themselves.

The PTP would actually be stupid to get in now (but can't resist because of the money involved) as the country is going downhill. You can't just change that and whoever is in power is receiving all the negative effects from it. They will lose a lot of popularity and can be attacked. You can't just change an economic downturn so they should not be to hasty to get in power they would be the ones then that would lose votes.
