Removing a Hatari Ceiling Fan

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I have a Hatari ceiling fan that has become possessed, you can't turn it off, always running. I turned the electric off, any tips how to remove the shroud so I can either repair or replace?
Thank you

Not sure if it was Hatari, but one I had like that was a snap in.  Look for something to press in to unsnap.

Looks like it has a remote control. Does the OP mean on;y the remote isn't working or has he gotten up on a stepladder and found that the manually operated power/speed switches don't work?

Either way, the success rate with any type of Hatari fan that has a remote control is less than stellar.

Yes, never turns off even with switch on unit. There is a small set screw on the backside from the controls on the unit that needs to be removed. Once removed the fan slides off the mounting bracket. Four years old so another $1000bt for another. Thanks

You might just try taking apart the switch box.  Careful for things that go boing.  I am constantly cleaning out rocker light switches that get stuck (usually in off) due to tiny ants that get in and make a dust clog.

If only everybody followed the maintenance plans on another running thread this would never happen!!!!.....

The official engineering term is a "ping-f**kit", it goes "ping" you say "f**kit".

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Remove the side circular covers to access the motor and fan horizontal mounting bolts
Remove the bolts and let the motor hang by the cable or support it if you can
The main plastic cover should then prise off the base plate secured into the ceiling...

We have one of these bashstewards.

The remote has a mind of its own, & works when it feels like it.

Bought a new remote, no difference.

I might just remove it with a workman's screwdriver one day!
