DSI chief expects Billy’s murder case to be concluded sooner than predicted

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is expected to conclude its investigation into the murder of Karen human rights defender Polajee “Billy” Rakchongcharoen much sooner than the 2-3 months previously anticipated.

DSI Department director-general Pol Col Paisit Wongmuang said today (Monday) that all DSI investigative teams, including those sent to Kaeng Krachan national park in Phetchaburi province to collect more evidence, had been instructed to wrap up the collection of witness testimonies, circumstantial and forensic evidence.

Meanwhile, DSI deputy director-general Pol Lt-Col Korawat Panprapakorn, who is in charge of the case, called a meeting of the officers handling the case. He said some of the investigative teams were in the park to collect testimonies from remaining witnesses, who might have information which could be useful to the investigation, and to look for more circumstantial evidence.

I think that they are actually quite serious about this case. Given all the time and effort they put in it. If they wanted it swept under the carpet they would not have found the remains and would have made up excuses and stuff. It looks like they are going after the guy in charge of the park at the time. He has powerful backers so it could be some in fighting. But they are seriously working on this one.

Lets see what happens and what evidence they have its hard to win a case without good evidence even if they want too.

That's true, I think you will find all the evidence you want inside the brown envelope

Official report: Subject shot himself twice in the back of the head, set himself on fire, dismembered himself, sealed himself inside a barrel, tossed himself into a body of water.

Or as they call it here: A rare blood disorder, AKA Lead Overdose.

The found some new Burmese suspects.

Indeed. You never know how things will end here! It's not over till the fat lady sings as they say. And that could be a long time in the future. Even after the DSI conclude the case, and if they charge someone or more than one, it will go to the Prosecutors to decide whether to prosecute or not. If they proceed it goes to court of first instance, then probably Appeals Court and then finally Supreme Court. All of which takes what? Somewhere between 10-20 years?

There is no such thing here as a straight forward case.

Indeed!

That must be why PM Prayut placed himself in charge of DSI.

If there's someone who knows about murder of civilian protestors ...

Can you give some links to that allegation?

1) swept under the carpet.

2) they gave found a scapegoat.
