A security deposit of Baht 800,000/400,000, depending on your type of long stay -  retirement/marriage or a combination with your pension/other income, is required for some months to be in a local Thai bank account. I have no issues with this.

The Baht 800,000 “security deposit” came into being in 2003 and since then Thai inflation has increased considerably.

What I’d like to know is if these amounts will increase in the future?

Please don’t respond with talk of the exchange rate, that’s a separate issue.

Many thanks in advance for your comments.

Rather naive question. This is a expat forum. You better ask the Thai government. Good luck with a precise answer from them.
