CH1961 Posted September 17, 2019 Share Posted September 17, 2019 FYI Today, 9.30am in Ayudhya Bank/Kasikorn at Jomtien/Dongtan Beach branch. Wearing long trousers and decent shirt (both of us). Open saving account for my (Swiss) wife. I was only with her as driver ????. Passport with 30 days extempt stamp, TM6, TM30 and certificate of residence from Immigration Jomtien. 45 minutes later out with Visa/ATM (debit card) and one time pin to create online banking account at home with the smartphone. HampiK Posted September 18, 2019 Share Posted September 18, 2019 Good to hear, that it is still possible. But it's becoming more and more difficult without a longstay visa. And as just in another thread "Krabi" even with a longstay visa the person has problems to open a bank account in many different branches. I know from one Kasikorn branch in Bangkok, which before was easy to open an new account. Now they want see a longstay visa. Even if you already have an account with them (for example for opening a new Fixed deposit account). Sometimes a yellow book also could help when the visa is not correct, as for KTB this year, they were not interested in the Visa.. but the yellow book did the thing.
