The Friends intro is just as iconic as the show itself, though we still have one major question about it all these years. Why do the gang end up soaking themselves in the fountain?

 

Well, it seems we may finally have an answer – namely the reason anyone decides to go into a fountain – alcohol might have been involved somehow.

 

"To my best recollection, that wasn't a scripted thing," set decorator Greg Grande revealed to Entertainment Weekly. "It was more impromptu.

 

"As [the actors] got later into the evening, they had more fun with the back and forth. They were just happy to hang out and have a few cocktails, probably.
