Regular tea drinkers have better organized brain regions—something associated with healthy cognitive function—compared to non-tea drinkers, according to new research.

“Our results offer the first evidence of positive contribution of tea drinking to brain structure, and suggest that drinking tea regularly has a protective effect against age-related decline in brain organization,” explains Feng Lei, an assistant professor in the psychological medicine department at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore.

Past studies have demonstrated that tea intake is beneficial to human health, and the positive effects include mood improvement and cardiovascular disease prevention. In fact, results of a 2017 longitudinal study that Feng led showed that daily consumption of tea can reduce the risk of cognitive decline in older persons by 50%.

Following this discovery, Feng and his team further explored the direct effect of tea on brain networks.

I must be drinking the wrong tea  ????

This can´t be true. People from one very represented country regarding expats in Thailand are generally in the top 5 of the worlds tea drinkers. They are also the ones most profiled in the news having all from problems to engaging in drunk and violent behaviour. That does not sound healthy to me, so I will choose to not put too much trust into this research.

Yep, I guess I haven´t found the right weed to put in my water either.

Don’t seem to have helped in my case.

Brought to you by the tea industry...

Actually I’ve been enjoying T for years, but my T is Tequila!

As far as I know tea does not grow in the UK it’s imported then they put their Twinnings name on it ????

Pretty soon, you won’t have tea sent over just like all the other foods coming from Europe..You will only have veggies that grow in the dark ( because of lack of proper sun in the UK ) Such as mushrooms, potatoes, carrots etc..

Do they mean proper tea like in China/Japan etc, or the stuff some people add to milk and sugar

I literally run on teas, especially green tea ! No sugar and definitely no milk in it ! I wouldn’t want to spoil it’s natural taste, it works for me ????

You can't beat a mug of 'Tesco Original' tea.

Of course it has to have milk and sugar.

And it's so strong each tea bag works for 3 mugs.

(Heladiv tea bags can barely make 2 mugs)

(1) Green tea might obviously have different physiological effects from strong black tea with milk & sugar.

(2) There may also be a cultural/social aspect eg tea drinkers might on average have lower alcohol intake ...

Who in their right mind put milk in tea?

Not the Brits

I like Japanese Green Tea.  Sometimes Korean Green Tea, but China Black just makes me think of the Chinese that come here.

I'll stick to the green.

Well, I'm TT. When drinking strong tea I do use milk and just a little sugar. However I do enjoy Earl Grey and the various fruit teas without milk and sugar. However, I am a tea bag user but there is a good reason for this...but that's another story and I wouldn't want to spoil it for those who might think I'm a philistine, ha!
