Probe urged into link between Future Forward party and protest against PM in New York

Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan said today (Friday) that that an investigation should be launched into whether the Future Forward party was connected with a protest against Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha in front of his hotel in New York on Tuesday.

The deputy prime minister said that the protest, reportedly by a group of Mexicans and Peruvians, was intended to discredit the Prime Minister, but he admitted he didn’t know whether it had any links to the Future Forward party.

General Prawit made his remark in response to a reporter’s question about the appearance of a document on social media that indicates Future Forward party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit hired an American lobbyist, APCO Worldwide LLC, to facilitate his activities during his 4-day visit to the United States in July.

Crimes committed abroad seem to have no bearing in Thailand judging by a convicted heroin trafficker still serving in the Govt.

They have been boasting about their democracy while in New York. Attacking and investigating their critics is not in line with a healthy democracy.

Of course this government is anything but a healthy democracy.

More weapons for crowd control general,  Oh yes please.

Prawit is well aware of friends like that. He'll now keep a WATCH.

But we will try and make it so..

So the luxury watch fan is trying to throw some muck at Thanathorn

but seriously maybe they need someone with a better integrity score to do the job.
Has he seen the Photos of PM with the fake supporters why doesn't he investigate them too?

Thanathorn uses a professional  agency to coordinate his meetings and activities in New York.

Maybe he should have just tied a tablecloth around his tummy and had a word with a frog...

Rather than investigate these protestors, Prawit should investigate the deaths of the three Thai citizens murdered in Laos. His coup government totally ignored their deaths when they happened. And Prawit should also investigate the three other missing activists who disappeared when crossing into Vietnam. Prayuth and Prawit were in charge when these activists were disappeared.

And the flames are getting turning up higher and higher.. Watch them say it is perfectly fine because America was accustomed to witch hunts since the days of Salem.

At least he's not using a certain Amsterdam!

Not sure, but I strongly suspect the Thai government and RTP don't actually have any authority in Laos and Vietnam to investigate anything.

If this so called government spent half as much time taking care of their people and the economy, as they do investigating and prosecuting any opposition, or challenge to their ill gotten authority, things would be a lot better for the people!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paying foreign people to protest against your government isn't very democratic.

Huh? Is Prayuth engaging in Trump style deflection tactics, to throw off the scent of skunk in the air? Is he trying to cover up his extreme incompetence, and the potential corruption within his own administration, and the army? Ever since they realized how popular Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit is, and how much the army is despised amongst the people, they have been very worried about a real opponent, who resonates with the people. Is it possible that Thanathorn actually cares about his people? I think so. Is it possible that Prayuth does not? Most definitely so.

They seem to be willing to do anything in their power to discredit a viable opponent, who has the will of the people behind him. They army has discredited itself countless times, and at this stage in time, carries absolutely no moral authority, no ability to do anything right, no vision for the future, and no game plan for the nation. They need to go. The nation needs to get rid of them yesterday. The youth eventually will oust these goons. Hopefully it will happen sooner, rather than later.

The "Dirty Tricks Department" at it again trying to discredit FFP and its popularity with the younger generation who must "obey" the "establishment"!

But did he or didn't pay those foreign people to protest or not?

Other than in Thailand and a few other countries proof is required before any charges are laid and the person/s are presumed innocent util found guilty.

You seem to be following the Thai governments plans of presuming Thanathorn guilty without any evidence at all. All they are doing is slinging mud on a wall and hoping something sticks.

IMHO this current government is so terrified of Thanathorn and the FFP that will try anything and everything to put him in jail and disband the FFP.

BTW it is NOT illegal to have a protest outside the UN HQ in the USA.

It's simply impossible, at this point, to (further) discredit the PM. That's a fait accompli, mostly thanks to his own acts of clownery and ineptitude.

Yet here they are investigating something in the US.

You have to give toadie and his cohorts top marks for trying and perseverance, if only their care for Thai people in general was as much of a concern.

Not a bad idea, launch an investigation. Prawatch though has no authority whatsoever in such matters - unless of course the entire law is being cancelled due to lack of interest by the rulers ????

Just make sure that the investigation does not backfire. Maybe the entire South American roadshow was organized by people much, much closer to the dictator!

Playing with fire ..........

And, as a real ruler, you have to deal with opposition, irrespective of where and who - that is in democratic countries though only!

These fragile insignificant males.

Protests are legal in the USA, is as free speech. If you can’t handle that, don’t go there.

So what,  what happens in NY say's in NY, nothing to do with you or Thailand, rent-a- crowd isn't anything new. However what the protesters  had to say was closer to the truth than some would like to hear.

Yep, the poor fragile, insecure, pananoid bought and paid for politicians, the reactions says it all.

Better buy more crowd control  military junk to use against the uprising that you know is coming.

Unlike paying supporters to protest against anyone opposing your ideas.
