Netizens are being warned of scammers stealing personal information by providing a registration service for the “Eat, Shop, Spend” scheme.

People are advertising their registration services for the government economic-stimulus scheme on social media, with the condition that those in need share their government ID number and password between midnight and 1am. They give assurances that they will not use the ID and password for other purposes. Some have charged Bt70 per person.

After the advertisement spread over the internet, many netizens posted messages warning people not to use the service, as the official registration process requires much personal information such as name, ID number, and telephone number.

Surely that's just what are doing - helping themselves to personal data.
