Pollution levels improve in many Bangkok areas

Mobile application Air4thai and its website (http://air4thai.pcd.go.th/), which tracks and analyzes air quality in real time, reported on Wednesday (October 2) morning that the air quality in Bangkok and surrounding areas had significantly improved.

According to the website, most Bangkok districts are now showing green stickers which mean ‘good’ air quality, with PM2.5 down to 26-50 micrograms per cubic metre (µg/m3). Some areas, such as Bang Na, Bang Kapi, Wang Thong Lang, Lat Phrao and Bang Kruay have blue stickers, meaning ‘excellent’ air quality with PM2.5 lower than 25 µg/m3.

Some areas however still have orange stickers indicating that the air is ‘starting to affect health’, such as Rama III Road in Bang Kho Laemistrict.

The website reports air quality in Bangkok on October 2 as ‘medium to excellent’ level.

Oh please don't start that back and forth ********* again

Clue might be that if you go outside you get wet

are you a mouthpiece for this propaganda.

I realise the writers and owners of thai visa are absolute tools but what stupidity in such a post.

this thai based app is run by the government health bureau, yes as corrupt as all the others.

this is the one which states double the WHO standard of 2.5microns and smaller is the safe public limit.

Additionally the governemtn runs a rolling average with the average rolling backwards to when the air quality was good and averaging it. yes that is why you get these sudden steps and shut down of air quality stations then start up with new steps.

Thai visa, you are officially a bunch of <deleted> wats

Those two issues are indeed the flaws/failings in the government data reporting such as thru Air4Thai:

--their color coded air quality reporting is based on the Thai-only scale of 50 micrograms, which is higher than either the WHO or U.S. thresholds for PM2.5 safety.

--their ratings are based on prior 24 hour averages, not real time data.... Which means whatever they show this morning is really the average for what happened overnight and most of yesterday.

The Thais are OK with anything up to 50 micrograms of PM2.5... But based on the U.S. scale, readings of 35 to 55 micrograms are considered unhealthy for sensitive groups, with 55 and above considered unhealthy for all. The Thai scale allows for higher levels of pollution before declaring it a health problem.

The AQICN.org site is better in terms of providing near real time data and using the safer U.S./international standard for PM2.5 level reporting.

But, but rain makes it worse..... Oh sorry I'm very much last week.

Burst of laughter, now you can take it easy and do nothing, so the rain cleans everything!
Unfortunately it is absolutely wrong, the rain causes the particles on the ground to descend, but they rise with the first breeze!
Stay seated, your plan was to do nothing anyway!

...and dirty...

They got lucky this time with the rain.  Not much rain Nov to March and if nothing is done Bkk will be a living hell again.  Does the government ever read studies on mental damage and pollution - perhaps thats the problem!
