Volunteers from Ford Motor Company have built a solar powered water management system for Banjamrung community in Rayong as part of the Ford Global Caring Month under the company’s Water Go Green project.

Kamolchanok Prasertsom, Ford’s communications director for Thailand and Asean, said the automaker teamed up with the Population and Community Development Association and government agencies in Klaeng district, Rayong, to survey the area and plan effective solutions for water management.

“We have also cooperated with Ford Ek Group in building a solar powered water management system for Banjamrung community in Klaeng district, Rayong, since it is an agricultural community that uses water all year round.” she said.

Kamolchanok said the system will increase efficiency of water management for household and agriculture consumption. Furthermore, it will cut the electrical bill for water pumps by 30 per cent.

“The volunteers had a chance to learn local wisdom and the lifestyle of people in Banjamrung community, such as making effective microorganisms for water from banana shoots, making khanom khaoyakoo [traditional sweet made from rice milk and coconut milk] and rice berry tea,” she added.
