Immigration police announced the arrest of a gang arranging for fake passports to help Myanmar migrants work in Thailand.

Naew Na reported that following the discovery of a fake passport gang in Nonthaburi in February the gang had moved operations to the border area of Mae Sot in Thailand's north western province of Tak.

Investigations revealed that passports with new pages were being transported by regular minivans on the Mae Sot to Bangkok route.

Immigration police followed a package that was later picked up by a Myanmar woman. Back at her address in Bang Bua Thong on the outskirts of the wider Bangkok metropolitan area they discovered a Myanmar national who was waiting for one of four fake passports.

Three others were also arrested along with a further six in the vicinity of the property who were waiting for other fake documentation to arrive.
