CCTV led to the capture of a 13 year old boy who hid in a department store in Nonthaburi. After waiting for it to close he emerged and robbed two stores before making a getaway on a bicycle.

"Ek" said he was one of a gang of four mates who were robbing stores in the Nonthaburi area. They had called their gang "See Kuman" - the four kids.

Two shop owners had earlier reported cash totalling about 13,000 baht had gone missing. One was a fresh milk store, the other a clothes shop. Three others were broken into but nothing was taken.

CCTV showed a boy inside the store and riding off.

On a subsequent occasion he was stopped inside the store at night by security and handed over to the Ratanathibet police who realised it was the same child in the CCTV.

"Ek" told investigators that he hid under a table selling lottery tickets and waited for the store to close. He did this on Fridays as it closed late due to many people going to see late night movies.

He said that he gave the proceeds of his theft to his mother. She was two months behind with the rent.

When asked where he had got the money he told her he had been working at a temple.

He said that he had been expelled from school for truancy and had formed a gang with three other boys.

They were also responsible for a series of thefts at Bang Yai City in Nonthaburi.

Initiative, creativity and enterprise, something the PM has been calling for from the people for a long time. This young boy shows how it is done.

He should be invited along as a guest speaker to the economic creativity brainstorming session at the Thammasat University.
