Mae Sai border pass fee on weekend

Featured Replies

I know that the usual fee for the border pass (for westerners) to enter Myanmar at Mae Sai is 10 USD or 500 THB.

Is there any additional fee to be paid at weekends or holidays, if so, how much?

I have never heard of a different fee for a border pass on weekends or holidays.

dunno, but (forgetting exactly what day of week it was) we were quoted 700baht each

still the scariest unknown; was that we each had SETVs in our Passports for the next week's 5 nights Yangon.

Ended up not going thru the hole for a looksee, in case our SETV were 'consumed' by some mindless border guard error

10usd is not 500thb

No, and probably they prefer the 500 baht option. There's always an excuse for not accepting the 10 dollar bill...

From personal experience, having lived in the area for many years and crossing into Tachilek on many shopping trips, the fee of 500 baht is charged every day, with NO weekend additions. Beware unscrupulous Thai agents who may try to sell you a US$10 bill - for 500 baht!!

Crikey, does it never stop!

I wish it were. Unfortunately $10 is more like THB300, 0r less!

Permit me to observe anyone who actually did that exchange with an agent deserves to be parted from their money.

He never said it was.

But the fee is 10US or 500THB.

But you as an agent know this, right?

Yes, that's exactly why you should have a cripsy Hamilton on your person. The currency exchange places on the Thai-side will sell you one.

Just went through last weekend on a Saturday. No additional fee. Just the 500 THB.
