South Park creators make sarcastic apology after show is blocked in China

The creators of South Park have released a sarcastic apology following the show being blocked in China.

 

Posting a statement to the official South Park Twitter page on Monday (October 7), creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone addressed reports that the cartoon had been scrubbed from Chinese internet following its 'Band in China' episode (via The Hollywood Reporter).

 

Despite dubbing their statement an "official apology to China from Trey Parker and Matt Stone", it would seem the comedy duo aren't really sorry at all.

 

They even went as far as to cite China's ban on Winnie the Pooh, following viral memes that were made to compare Chinese president Xi Jinping to the AA Milne character.

The NBA embarrassed itself with their apology. I’m guessing there won’t be any games this season because they obviously don’t have any balls ???? !

China has gone "nuclear" on South Park, scrubbing South Park completely from the Chinese internet.

Every clip, episode and online discussions of the show from Chinese streaming services, social media and even fan pages.

South Park apology:

"Like the NBA, we welcome the Chinese censors into our homes and into our hearts. We too love money more than freedom and democracy. Xi doesn't look like Winne the Pooh at all. ... Long live the great Communist Party of China. May the autumns sarghum harvest be beautiful. We good now China?"
