October 27, 20196 yr My Brother DCP1510 has just developed this chronic rattle when I try to scan, was working fine up to now. It gives a message "unable to scan" so I guess it needs some kind of repair. Anyone know of a decent repair shop for printers in Tucom?
October 27, 20196 yr Having owned several printers, I think you will find it hard to find anyone to repair this and for the repair to last!! As you can purchase a printer / scanner for just a few thousand baht, do you want to waste money on a bodge repair. Having said that, have a look yourself, it is most likley the cog fitted to a rubber band that has a problem.
October 27, 20196 yr I suspect you would be best to go to Brother for repair - things these days have parts replaced rather than fixed so maker would be the most likely to have required parts and experience. Edited October 27, 20196 yr by lopburi3

I agree they are cheap enough, around 3000 baht for a new one, but I really hate adding to the landfill if I can help it. Had a look but can't see anywhere to remove the glass screen to access scanner.

A new one is just under 3000 baht, so what do you think my choice would be?
October 31, 20196 yr Good choice. Indeed it is not worth repairing cheaper equipment anymore (and that includes TV and phone) but thought it was more expensive being laser. Seems they are way down in price these days also.

I've had it for 4 years so I suppose not a bad run for a cheap printer. It's an indictment on our consumer society though that it's cheaper to buy new rather than repair. There's a lot of plastic in a printer, I can only hope that the repair shop (I told them to keep it) disposes of it responsibly.

He,s saying they "conned" you about the price of repair hoping you would leave it with them (which you did) they then repaired it (simple repair 100 baht) and passed it on to a family member....OK now understand

I had a Lexmark in Australia that only cost $50, but the replacement ink cartridges cost as much as the printer. Edited October 31, 20196 yr by giddyup
