Every Pom I know IRL who voted for Brexit didn't think it would pass, it was more of a joke vote. The shock that set in when they realized what they had done was pretty horrendous.

Goods have not been a big export market for the UK in a long time.

It's fabulous when you only get 1 half of the story.

The UK has also been a Services led economy for a long time

In 2025, UK exports of services to the EU reached £203.1 billion, representing an increase of 28% in real terms compared to 2019 levels

It was put through mostly on 'stop the boats' and £xxx into NHS and did any of that happen ?

Should just have free trade same as before, without any EU control over UK laws, but control of who gets in through borders.

Cake & eat it basically....and get the German and French leaders to literally kiss our feet on re-entry day as well.

You might suggest that’s not ‘big export’ market, the numbers suggest otherwise.

UK positioning on services has been quite beneficial, as it is a high growth global market For example, this market (graph by AI):

For expats and frequent visitors to Thailand Brexit was a disaster ,with the pound taking a big hit against the baht (not recovered to pre brexit levels).

If scotland goes independent expect another big hit to the pound …lets hope not🙏

Seems to be some confusion, the figures in Blue are Goods and the figures in green(ish) are Services... https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/uk-trade-in-numbers/uk-trade-in-numbers-web-version but these are Globally, not just the EU & we're raised to answer the question about Goods still being a significant export from the UK rather than anything to do with Brexit per se.

Yep.

The confusion in your graph, is that it covers goods and services exported across the World, and not EU specific exports.

I see where the confusion comes from. 😀

The total goods exports (EU + non-EU) is 386 billion, while the total goods + services exports to EU only is 384 billion. The two numbers are very close.

The BBC graph is accurate and only about goods exports.
