Pattaya's finest took to Walking Street last night to ensure the public and tourists that they are ready, willing and able to do their job.

It was to mark Halloween but the intention was not to scare - just to inspire confidence and trust in the force.

Pol Col Thanapong Photi led a contingent of his men and staff from City Hall and Bang Lamung District down the famed red light street.

Tourists posed for pictures - Pattaya Update News said it was bustling for the annual western ghost festival.

Billed as a crime crackdown it was really Public Relations - the cops handed out leaflets to businesses in the street explaining how they can be contacted.

Pol Col Thanapong promised to protect and serve the public and tourists.

and where to send brown envelopes.  They scare me every time I see gangs of them at the roadside sticking up vehicles.

A few indoors might wish them to move on so the show can get back to normal.

I know what I am dressing up as next year. Scariest thing I have seen in years! Quite effective!

Perhaps they could practise being friendlier and not rigidly standing to attention.

Take a walk along Beach and Second Road; from South to Central Road. Count the number of double parked buses and lorries. Count the endless scooter rentals and vendors that have taken over public streets and footpaths. Count the number of costumed characters enforcing traffic laws. Photo ops and exclamations cannot hide the real image.

they even help you chose your date for the night

lol

Best fancy dress winners !! ????

Yep. Know a couple of Thai cops. They really can be friendly and nice guys. Rather have a few beers with a Thai cop than a British cop.

I'm from the police, trust me.

To Protect and Serve?

That girl in the pic must be thinking it's her lucky day.

Girl?

They are just regular people out of uniform.
