Two sea turtles have been saved at Naithon Beach on Phuket’s west coast.

Today (November 2), at 8am, the Chief of Sirinath National Park, Nathawat Nuisiram, along with research officials, rescued two sea turtles at Naithon Beach.

The team received a report from local villagers and headed to the beach to investigate the reports and check out the location. They found that the turtles were green sea turtles and about 2 years old.

They had minor injuries on their heads but their body parts were all OK with no signs of distress or damage. The turtles were sent to Phuket Marine Biological Centre for evaluation and treatment before returning them back into the sea.

Meanwhile, other species, like ex-pats over 70 years of age are becoming extinct...????

Good...Any help that we humans can give to our fellow earthlings is a positive.

Strange...that 2 very young green sea turtles, which are basically solitary creatures, are found together and both with minor injuries. Although...green sea turtles cannot retract their heads into their shell, which leaves the head more vulnerable to injury. Possibly caught in fishing net and reported anonymously by the fishermen. Good on them!????

Cool things about green sea turtles...

one of the largest, if not the largest, sea turtle

fast swimmer when threatened...up to 35+ kph

omnivorous when young...eats strictly veggie as an adult, thus the green color

live up to 80 years

Turtles hatched naturally on a beach have less than a 5% chance to survive to reproductive age.  That's why there are so many that hatch.

It's a difficult life for them.
