Police in Nonthaburi are investigating after a man held up a branch of the Thai Military Bank in the Crystal SB shopping mall on Ratchapreuk Road yesterday afternoon.

They have suggested that he is not a professional thief.

The man - wearing a grey T-shirt and surgical mask - walked into the bank and got a queue number and sat down.

There were no other customers in the bank at the time and there were just two staff behind the counter and some more at tables.

It was 1.34 pm. He approached the counter and handed over a note that said to give him the money because he had a gun.

He handed over a white cloth bag and was clutching a gun at his waist.

Staff handed over two bundles each containing 100,000 baht and he left the branch without firing a shot.

It was all over in less than a minute.

CCTV footage revealed that the man had arrived on a white motorcycle (registration unknown) and parked by a tree near the entrance to the mall.

Police believe that this is not the work of a professional thief.

If he covered the registration, it must have been a very professional Thai thieve.

got 200,000  a CLUE, go for that T shirt, as they wear the same one for ever and a day, you can gaurantee, when caught he will still be wearing it, note to all bank robbers, use 100 baht if your ill gotten gains, and buy a new T shirt. got no gloves on, his dabs will be on his queue ticket, oh silly me, i wonder if they want an advisor.

I'm seriously surprised there's not a lot more of armed robberies on all the banks since their security is pretty much none. No automatic gates at the teller to protect from people jumping the counter for example. If this country was full of Americans with that type of bank security they'd be getting hit hundreds of times a day.
