Residence certificate and 90 day catch-22

Featured Replies

So, it transpires that to obtain a residence certificate from Immigration at Chaeng Wattana, you need to have completed a 90 day report SINCE YOUR LAST ENTRY. It's not sufficient that you've completed one in the past.

So what happens if, like me, you're here on a non-immigrant visa but constantly travel in and out of the country for work, thus haven't done a 90 day report for ages? My embassy only provides residence certificates for use in my home country. So how am I supposed to obtain a residence certificate from anyone, save through an enforced 90 day stint in Thailand to fulfill immigration's requirement?

Pay a fee to an agent?

Immigration rules...we either obey...or pay someone to grease the skids...

That is just the way it is in Thailand at this time...????

Any other suggestions or work-arounds? There must be plenty of people in the same boat?
