What is a letter of guarantee from the bank

Featured Replies

I am preparing for applying for an O-A Visa in the United States and need a better understanding on what is a letter of guarantee? The following is from the requirements for the proof of funds. Is there someone that has recently gone through this process in the United States that can explain what they provided to the Thai Embassy in DC as a letter of guarantee?

6. US or Thai bank statement or evidence of adequate finance showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 800,000 Baht or an income certificate (an original copy) with a monthly income of not less than 65,000 Baht, or a deposit account plus a monthly income totaling not less than 800,000 Baht In the case of submitting a bank statement, a letter of guarantee from the bank (an original copy) is required

Thanks for any help you can provide.

It is simply a letter from the bank confirming the account balance. Letter of "guarantee" is a misnomer.

Yes agreed, it's an account statement but in narrative form and of course it is stamped/certified (in Thailand at least).

Don't forget the expensive poor quality health insurance that you will need.

If I were you I would find another method to stay in Thailand.
