Penang non O visa requirements

Featured Replies

I need to go to Penang to make a new visa as I didn’t have the 400,000baht in my account to make the yearly extension. I am married to a Thai and we have 2 children together.

Are there any documents that I am missing for the requirements?

1. - copy of marriage certificate (do I need to bring original? I read some people saying to bring the original but I don’t want to be lugging that around with me if not required)

2. - a photo of Thai spouse

3. - signed ID of your Thai spouse

4. - copy of Thai Bank book. (400,000baht)

Is there anything else I should have with me? Any new requirements I am missing?

1. Best to have it in case you are asked for it. Not sure if Penang asks for it at this time.

2. No needed. Only photos of you for the application.

3. Signed copies if her house book registry and ID card are needed.

4. Original and copy of it updated shortly you leave to go Penang.

If you only need a little more time to have the 400k baht in the bank you could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife and then the one year extension

Thanks joe. I’m at CW right now. I have the 400,000 in my account already and I had asked if I can get a 60 day extension, but I guess I’ve already used that so I need to leave Thailand and come back.

So just to clarify, my bank book + photocopy is sufficient? Don’t need to go pay 200baht for the transcript of my bank account Like I do for my 1 year marriage visa?

That is enough. The 400k baht only has to be in the bank on the day you apply.

Can such 60 days extension applied for just after several one or more one year extension(s) of a non OA. I'd love to use it to move my "renewal anniversary" from January to May/June. So 60 days ext. + 90 days non O would be handy.

Oh okay, I updated it today and will be applying on Thursday so that shouldn’t be a problem then?

also, should I use an agent in Penang or do it myself?

If you have never had the 60-day extension, you are entitled to one. The rule is a single 60-day extension per entry with a visa. Thus, if you earlier used a 60-day extension before starting with the one-year extensions, you are not entitled to a 60-day extension just because you left Thailand and returned using a re-entry permit. Hope this is clear.
