Not needed, but you might need insurance, depending on if you ever go to hospital and how much your bill will be. Smart people will always have health insurance here.

Indeed, but there are those of us who are un-insurable, age and history puts many out of your "smart" equation...

Last week I came into Thailand on a brand new ME Non O based on marriage from HCMC. No problems either getting the visa or on entry.
