When keeping the 400k in the bankfor a month, do I need to show another statement and letter from the  bank,  or is a bank book enough?

You need a letter and a statement from the bank, with the minimum amount (400K) being in your account for TWO months prior to the application.

No, i didn't need the 400k in the bank prior to application, as the father of thai kids.

It's when picking the visa up, after 1 month, I'm  asking about.

After the 30 day under consideration period you only need your updated bank book and a copy of it.

Actually, never even asked for my bank book.

This was probably my best ever experience at immigration. It was very quiet, a couple of monks and a famous foreigner that is on TV a lot, who speaks fluent Lao. 

The officer asked me if I wanted a coffee! I said I didn't know how to use the machine, so she went and made me a cup!

 

Nice, as this is hopefully my last visa due to being in the Thai citizenship process.

 

And to top it  all. The 1.5 bitcoin I sold at $8300, I bought back at $6720, so the money in the bank made me over 70,000 baht for 6 weeks or so!
