Pattaya: Tourists scatter in fear as "illegal" Vietnamese food sellers fight

Tourists scattered in fear as a Vietnames fruit seller armed with a knife went for three compatriots selling "Joke" (rice gruel).

 

Three Vietnamese men aged 37, 36 and 31 were taken to hospital - two had arm wounds and one had a wound to the head. 

 

Pranee, 35, a witness to the melee said that the fruit seller attacked the others after an argument began.

 

He disappeared following the trouble.

The media said that Vietnamese should not be engaging in such occupations as selling food in the first place as those jobs are reserved for Thais.

 

Now they are not only breaking the law in this way but damaging the image of Pattaya, said Siam Chon News.

thought under asean they can sell food?  would be nice to have viet street food vendors selling authentic viet food since none of the viet restaurants in thailand i ever been to have authentic viet food.
