First of all I'll freely admit that I'm not brave enough to do this myself.

So here goes.

Most people reading this will know by now about the anti-Israel and anti-Jewish protests at the Israeli embassy and Phuket and already announced to go other places. Also your social media is likely to be overloaded with related content now.

If you haven't kept up, I add anti-Jewish because the protesters added that to their protest messages. I wish they hadn't but the did and there's no point in denying that sad reality.

So I see the angry protestors and I see the tsunami of toxic posts on social media, but what I don't know is what the majority of regular Thai people, Somchai on the street as it were, really think about all this if anything.

So here is my modest proposal.

Go out on the street wearing a large Star of David medallion and check to see if there any reactions by Thai people. Better if youre a youtuber documenting this and also better I think if you don't look ethnically to be a Jew.

Just the Star of David. That's on the Israeli flag so I assume most Thais recognize that symbol.

I could suggest wearing a skullcap but I think that's going a bit far with this,

So what will happen mostly?

Nothing? I would predict that but I don't know.

Double takes, mean looks.

Verbal confrontation or worse?

I could include positive reactions but that seems remote.

So are some people up for this kind of very timely in Thaland social experimentation?

I'd be surprised if 1% (and I'm being kind) of Thais have any idea what the SoD is, represents. They probably couldn't find IL on a map.

I'd be surprised if most people, worldwide could find IL on a map, if it wasn't labels. Or if most people even cared.

Nobody cares about IL or the Middle East, and wouldn't enter a conversation, if Israelis or Jews didn't bring it up. People just know conflicts in the Middle East affect oil prices and prices in the market. Most couldn't find the countries involved in the silliness on a map.

You're asking people to embarrass themselves by trying to pass themselves off as Israeli or Jewish, for a reaction ... HELL NO

Also you got my messsage wrong. Maybe my error.

I meant the social experiment to be showing yourself as a Jew.

If I meant it to be to show yourself as Israeli I would have suggested wearing the flag.

Being Christians are about 28.8% of the world population. They might have an idea, especially since a few Thais are Christian.

Jews accout for 0.2% of religious folks, worldwide. (source: wiki).

Can't even imagine how low that % would be for Thais being Jewish.

But I don't know so I think it would be an interesting social experiment.

I was asked by a Thai why I didn't have Christmas decorations in my condo and I just answered that I didn't celebrate Christmas. I assume she probably thought I'm a Muslim, ha ha.

Anyway you could be right but I still think that Thais mostly do know that the Star of David is a Jewish symbol. If there is no reaction only because Thais don't know what the star is, then obviously that would be a flop.

All my Jewish relatives, look like the rest of us. If they didn't speak, you'd probably not even know they are Yanks. Same with most people.

I guess to solve the do Thais know what the Star of David is question, you could print a t-shirt saying JEW and also in Thai and perhaps add an Israeli flag for good measure.

Doable for many youtubers for sure.

To be clear, there is no history in Thailand of any kind of problem with racist Jew hatred but the question posed by such a social experiment is if that's changed due to recent events (Jews Out, etc,)

Another way to find out about that is through a scientific poll but I'm not aware of any Thai organization that will do that.

So back to my potentially viral video concept idea.

Will there be any takers?

The Jew hatred in Thailand is likely driven by the Muslim population.

I doubt many would know a Star of David as a religious symbol.

I think Thais would generally recognize the cross as a Christian symbol, given the countless Catholic schools and hospitals.

i too old to get in a scuffle with Muslim Thais or leftist tourists.

It's a project for a certain kind of youtuber. Because of doubts about knowing about the stars, i've shifted my suggestion to be wearing a t shirt with JEW and ยิว in a large font. That would be a much better social experiment, yes?
