OsCommerce should fill the bill for you.

http://www.oscommerce.com/

I am a bit afraid of the installation.....

If your web-host uses cPanel then it may have fantastico scripts installed. The installation of the software is literally a point and click exercise.

Regards

As I never heared of cpanel I think it is not the case. What is cpanel?

The 'page' you see when you log onto your web site as owner. If you want to PM me about your site and host then I can advise.

Regards

PS some host provide software, others just the MySql and PHP {or similar} to provide support for a store for example

As cndvic wrote, OSCOMMERCE is definatly good. But take a look at XTCOMMERCE at: http://www.xtcommerce.com which is the "European" Version of OSOMMERCE. Some of my friends using XTCOMMERCE instead of OSCOMMERCE because of it's features and service! One of my friends was using OSCOMMERCE for hims Webshop for a long time but was moving to XTCOMMERCE also! and for a price of Euro 100 per year include service and software, I think is a good deal!

this what I use to manage it is called "Direct Admin" MySql and PHP I can turn on and off, just don't know which version it is.

The host is a dedicated server, so I could do there whatever I want if I would know how to do....

Here's a link to 'demo' a number of ecommerce solutions - Open Source CMS

I agree that Oscommerce is a great package, but it's not too easy to modify the site 'visually'. Yes you can purchase 'templated' designs from a number of sources, and whilst these aren't too expensive, it's still a cost and you'll still be going for a 'close enough' design.

Zen Cart is basically a slimmed down version (but still retains all the important stuff), however, it much easier to personalise the 'theme' as it's controlled by Cascading Style Sheets.

I run a small Web Hosting Company in the UK (have done for 6 years) and our servers use Cpanel and offer Fantastico installation of OsCommerse, CubeCart and ZenCart.

Let me know if you a looking for semi-impartial advice!

/edit/ just noticed you run your own unix servers, I don't think any of the packages are particularly difficult to install so you shouldn't have any problems. However, all of the User Forums for the software involved will have free-lancers willing to do the install for a small fee.

OK. In this case then you can choose from the following options:-

1. A PHP/MySQL setup, cubecart is a retail product which gets good reviews, oscommerce and zencart are similar open source {free} system which are not the friendliest to set up. There are others try the link http://www.opensourcecms.com/. {See this has been suggested as I was typing]

2. A turnkey from a processing vendor such as e-bay.

3. Look at a simpler HTML based solution.

4. One other option is to have a store based on one of the above but customised to your requirements, assuming you've not been PM'd to death about this already. :o

The thing is that none of us know is what you want to do, for example, say you have 10 products and want to use the net to generate additional retail business. If the products are stable then the full blown versions above may be simply too complex, especially if you have to manage them yourself. Time is after all money.

However if you have 100+ products or they are continually changing then the investment in learning the store software may well be worthwhile.

Only you know what your target is and that should dictate the required solution.

Sorry I never gave any details: around 10-20 products, which are uniform and per piece. Best would be 2 languages. and Euro/USD.

I do the payment over VEDC at Kasikorn. I would prefer to continue handmade payments. The products are very simillar and the pictures have the same sizes.

The products are in 5 groups and in every group there are additional pages necessary (installation instructions).

I would give the url but I guess it is not allowed.....
