Interesting thread.

I used to fly Thai but stopped some years back after a flight had a combination of very poor service and what seemed to be a very worn old plane.

Switched back to BA. Flights were BKK  to LON.Then onwards to Milan.

Flights were OK, with one exception this year on the BKK - LON leg

Delay in take off from BKK resulted missing connection to Milan. ( got put up in a hotel, so they did their best to ease the inconvenience.

The service was also poor.( on the flight.)

Return to BKK was fine, actually good.

Next year aiming to go BKK to Milan.

Choices for 1 way on the same date in late April  are

BA  @ 19.500 baht .    Stops at London then onwards )

Thai  18.250 baht. They recently introduced direct non stop flights BKK - MIL. Night flight which I prefer.

EVA  15, 200 baht, longer total journey time due to the hop to Taipei and a short stop there

After the stop they fly direct non stop to MIL ( new service, starts next February.)

Undecided on which to choose.

Edit to add.

Baggage allowance with EVA 30 kgs. checked in.

BA 23 kgs.

So EVA has a slight advantage there.

13506 THB on feb 25. 13 hours, 15 minutes.

One way price then?

I still don't know where you find 13 hours and 15 minutes.

Not at Thai Airways schedule (12 hours and 15 (25) minutes.

But as you write: still planning

Never again.

I have been flying mostly Thai  for the last 10 or 20 years.

But the seating of their new 777 is a crime against humanity.

Seats are big enough for Thai children,  but I am a caucasian adult.

Even the new business class seats are too short: if you are taller than 170-175cm you cannot really lie flat. I have never seen so tiny seats in business.

My last flight was in eco. I arrived with sciatica, was rolled into Bangkok Hospital in a wheelchair.  Thank you very much, Thai Airways.

NB flights in TG are now always full. Service is poor, staff sometimes hostile.

I did BKK to Auckland on 777 once... there and back the same day... in cattle class. Never going to do that again. Yes, 777 is compacted to the point it is absolutely inappropriate for such a long flight. And that box on the floor made sure you had nowhere to put your legs. I'd rather have no entertainment than the box taking most of the leg space away. Anyway - trying to pick A350/A380/B787 flights whenever possible. And if possible, despite the price - ANA.
