Large Buddha statue set to be installed in Bangkok

A 69-metre-tall Dhammakaya Thep Mongkol Buddha statue with a 40-metre lap has been built for Wat Paknam Bhasicharoen, a royal temple located in the Phasi Charoen district of Bangkok.

 

Located near the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the large and popular temple is supported by prosperous patrons. The Buddha figure will be assembled on Sunday (December 29).

Yeah ! Let's build a temple for the unemployed export factory workers to go pray at

finally, needed a big statue.....

It reminds me of European history when every town or city would compete with each other to build the largest church or cathedral and even small towns such as Chartres in France would build masterpieces of architecture....I doubt it made the donors better Christians.
