VISA transfer - after passport renewal

Featured Replies

I recently got a new NON B VISA for one month which is till 23rd of Jan 2020 and supposed to get extended for next 11 month but meanwhile my passport got exhausted of its pages and i applied for a new passport. I got the new passport and now have to make a visit to Myanmar through Don Muang Airport. My questions

1. Do I need to transfer the VISA to new passport or taking both the passport along with Letter from Embassy will suffice at DMK will suffice

2. Does the transfer immigration office has to be the same which issues the VISA for ex Nonthaburi

3. Does it tale lots of documentation for the transfer or is it simple process of filling the form and getting it done

A advice will be highly appreciated.

I assume you have a under consideration stamp with a report back date on it 30 days from the day you applied for the extension of stay.

Have you gotten a re-entry permit to keep it valid when you enter the country.

1. It would be best to have your stamps transferred at immigration. Immigration does not transfer visas.

You can could use both passport on departure from the country. And again on entry to the country.

2. You have to do the stamp transfer at the Nonthaburi immigration offices.

3. You only need copies of both passport photo pages. Copies of your visa, entry stamp and the under consideration stamp pages in the old passport. And a copy of your TM6 departure card.

Many Thanks Ubonjoe

Yeah I applied for extension of my last VISA which was expiring on 25th Dec 2019 and then got this one month consideration VISA. Also I have a single re entry permit

I asked my agent and he mentioned that it will take lots of days / time as there is long ques at immigration office and documentation so better to go to Myanmar with two passport option.

I was thinking to do it it my own if it is not a time taking process as i have my visit scheduled on 10th Jan.

Is it worth undergoing it by my self?

Thanks once again . Appreciate

Personal I would leave the transfer till you had more time and just travel with both passports. When you do attend imm for transfer make sure you have the letter from embassy with you. Also note that the reentry stamp will be transfer from where it was issued. eg I always get my reentry permit at airport. CW transferred my stamp details but would not do the reentry permit (because issued at DM). I just travelled with both pp.

No need to use an agent to do the stamp transfer.

I am not sure Nonthaburi would be that crowded and no reason for it to take more than one trip..

Thanks Dr Jack. Lets see if i can get it transferred by myself. My VISA extension and re entry permit both were issued at Nonthaburi and i also have the embassy letter with me too. if that doesnt work i will carry both the passport
