UK or Ireland first?

I will be taking the family on holiday in August, first to UK, then Ireland and back to UK.

 

Do I apply for the UK or Irish visa first considering that extra time is needed for both applications?

If your wife your wife will have a UK Short Stay Visit Visa she can visit Ireland using that, she will have to have landed in the UK, and passed through UK Immigration before travelling to Ireland.

Just as a further back up to theoldgit's reply. I found it a lot easier getting a UK visitors visa for the wife, than getting an Irish visa for her. We have gone this route on the last 7-8 occasions that the wife and I have gone to Ireland.
