Hurt British royals try to find exit route for Harry and Meghan

Can you imagine what it is like to be followed everywhere you go by paparazzi 24/7, to know that even in a private house, people will be taking notes to sell on everything you do, using cameras with extra long lenses to photograph you 500 metres away. To have people going through your trash to find something, anything to have a pop at you.

Can anybody remember when Harry was in Afghanistan in a war zone doing the job he was paid to do in the Army and nobody over there that he was working with said anything at all, and then somebody tipped off the press about it and he was recalled.

Can you remember how Princess Diana was followed everywhere and was eventually killed in a car crash while being chased by paparazzi/ How many conspiracy theories came out of that.

Harry was 12 at the time. It is bad enough to lose a parent at any age but at 12 it must have been a very sad time for him and William.

If you want to know what is going on in Harry and Megan's life just Google it and you will find hundreds of sites all purporting to tell the "real" story.

Then Google yourself to see what is available and told about you. I just did and found nothing as I am not considered newsworthy enough.

Excellent.

I am a republican (Scottish variety), and I have always believed that the royal family should put out to grass. Andrew should probably be in prison, but the evidence has to be there.

I have no interest in the royal family at all. However it is objectionable that our vile tabloids should encourage people to imagine that they own them, how dare any of the royals want a private life, they are in fact saying.

So we are subjected to bucket loads of self righteous, hypocritical bilge, both from the tabloids, and those whose minds have been turned to cabbages by reading them. The obvious racism about Megan is very poorly hidden also.

Then there are the cries of outrage about the public money they get. Yes they can afford to do without it, but it is a few pennies for each of us. Government failures cost billions regularly, if we want outrage what about the vast scale of tax avoidance, in offshore accounts. Thanks to Brexit and the Tories we won't be getting any of that money back in a hurry.

Leave the absurd royal family alone and let them fade quietly into irrelevance.

No other country would tolerate their Royals living in another country and continuing to suck on the government purse so neither should we.

We can all think of one!

The howls of outrage from the British tabloids are quite hypocritical in their assumption of the high moral ground. These are the same newspapers that were bugging people's phones in pursuit of salacious stories.

I don't have any problem with the couple wanting step back from a role where every thing they do is exhaustively scrutinized with an invariably negative slant, just because bad news sells. As an Australian, the sooner we become a republic and cast off an irrelevant institution, the better. Unfortunately, we still have a large rump of mentally immature people who think a royal family of prolific breeders 15,000 km away is worthwhile.

but the rumors is still very much alive.

Given the rumours I can't help but suspect that this could well be a well orchestrated event to maintain the "bloodline", between the two of them they would really screw up something that has been kept "pure" for many hundreds of years!

Or maybe not! awful strange though, given how many hangers on/advisers they have that this just happened. :whistling:

Personally, I find it difficult to get too upset with her... as long as she refrains from gouging the British taxpayers.

PS - photos from her "Suits" U.S. TV series days.

BS... The Queen is devoted to serving herself at taxpayers expense.

WHO PAYS?

Opponents of the monarchy were scathing.

"Taxpayers will rightly ask who will be funding their overseas lifestyle, their extra security and trips back and forth between here and North America," said Graham Smith, head of the campaign group Republic, which wants to abolish the monarchy.

As for Harry, what is he going to do, sign on for Benefits? Good to see him wanting to stand on his own feet, though is he going to give up his country estate and titles? Hard life being a royal.

Help me out here. They announce t"hey wanted to lead a more independent life, which they hoped to finance themselves" (actual text of their statement: " "work towards becoming "financially independent."....and it leads to pages of vitriol calling them parasites  (among other things) and talking about the need to pull the plug on their tax payer subsidized life style as if they had announced quite the opposite.

????

seems no matter what they do, they can't win in some people's eyes.

Which is why they want to quit this.

At the death of each monarch the monarch to be puts it to the electorate to be or not to be. That is the question. It would also ensure that they had to be popular to ascend the throne. A democratic monarch - I like the sound of it.

Yes, equality is a bitch.

There is no equality in this relationship. She rules as a manipulative dictator. He’s completely lost his manhood. Perhaps he one day regains it. I hope so.

Harry has long been angry at the treatment he and his wife have received from the "tabloids", and in his announcement said they would reduce media access to their engagements.

I believe that Meghan is exposed each and every day to subtle, and not so subtle, forms of racism and as a couple they have had enough!

"If you don’t believe in free speech for people who you disagree with, and even hate for what they stand for, then you don’t believe in free speech." (Ricky Gervais)

They should have called themselves "BeckhamRoyal" as they are likely going to try and do a Royal version of the Beckhams.

Maybe better to judge if you know the ins and outs of a relationship than completely from the outside and based on tabloids and other gossip.

Demonstrate your own maturity to me by explaining rationally how the British monarchy has any relevance whatsoever to Australians. BTW, every time one of the expanding brood comes to Australia, the taxpayers fork out millions for their cosseted journey.

Joe Bloggs wouldn't so neither should a member of the Royal Family. They receive far more in welfare handouts than any UK citizens.

Can you come up with any main stream media coverage that is 'racist' against her?, you might believe it but I don't think that is reality. There was a radio presenter who called her uppity if you have to clutch at straws. I think she has proven to be self centered and manipulative, public adoration of her has evaporated, and that is not the fault of the media

I notice they want to use the Sussex name as part of their new "brand". Their new website name shows that.

They want to be a royal version of the Beckhams.

There is a simple solution to this. The Royal family should disown them and cut them off entirely. Let them make money as civilian celebrities by slagging off the British on Oprah.

That would serve 2 purposes. Preserve the integrity of the Royal Family and highlight the awesomeness of William and Kate.

So pathetic how Harry has been pussy whipped by this manipulative actress.

I think Queen Eliz should get a few mansions in Cali and rock it out like a gangsta...

while sending selfies to the suckers in the rain and mess of Brexit

He was warned by his mum when he was a kid, his brother and his many mates. He'll pretty soon learn living in the Markle bubble is a nightmare and come back to the family in time.
