Twelve homes burned as fire races through Bangkok neighbourhood

Four people were treated for smoke inhalation after a fire swept through adjoining wooden houses in the North Baankrua Historical community in Bangkok’s Ratchathewi district before dawn on Friday (January 10).

Fire-fighters, Phaya Thai police and the Poh Teck Tung Foundation responded to calls and found the fire threatening a sizeable portion of the sprawling community.

It took only about 30 minutes to bring under control, however. Twelve houses sustained damage.

A police spokesperson said a forensics team would examine the house where the fire began to determine the cause.

30 min to control fire, they make it sound as 12 houses destroyed. Maybe someone looking for some insurance money, but more than one home probably the jacked up wiring in this country.

The cause will no doubt be the same as it always is - an electrical fault. And no-one at all will be surprised, and no-one at all will call for Thai electrical systems to be installed and maintained properly.

A post not understanding the construction of the houses in this historical district has been removed.

An insulting post and the reply has been removed.

So the question is, will there be a condo or a shopping mall built on that spot?
