Any ‘farangs’ who do not wear face masks should be kicked out of the country, that’s according to Thailand’s health minister, Anutin Charnvirakul.

The minister isn't talking about air pollution, he's chattering about the virus.

What a ... .

Have to wait a bit, but I'd love to leave this beautiful country soon.

'I'm leaving now I'm leaving now Get out of my face Get out of my place

I'm leaving now, adios I'm leaving now '

I question those numbers, we live in Mae Rim and have taken measurements three times in the past 24 hours using two separate devices and all readings have been under 38, we're sat here with the doors open as I type! In fact, only yesterday my wife commented about how there has been a lack of burning this year and I agreed.

@ saengd

So if you have taken measurements with two devices, then this should be correct.
I think the place where you’re living might be healthier than other places in/around ChiangMai?

The results seem very often perplexing, but I think (hope) there is no fake?
Many factors are influencing any measurements, so your numbers (37?) that means AQI 105
is not too far away from an average AQI today (in CM) before noon of 130 – 140(?).
[AQI 130 means 47 μg/m3]

http://www.aqmthai.com/public_report.php might be a tool to double check the situation.

Feb 06. 2020   Strict no-burn zone measures to be implemented in North

Very good!
Chiang Mai has forbidden burning from January 10 to April 30.
Phrae has announced a strict ban on burning from February 1 to April 30.

(late he comes, but he comes...)

Not so good - today Saturday Feb 8  2020:

Nan province  has banned burning from February 15 to April 15.
image.png.f52f5ba5074c4f48c3c7cc78b866d360.png

Phayao  declared absolute no-burning areas from March 1 to April 30.

Lampang  declared absolute no-burning areas from March 1 to April 30.

Mae Hong Son … strictly forbidding fires from March 15 to April 30.

Chiang Rai  is monitoring the trend of disaster situations to issue guidelines
on no-burn zones later.

Why not at once? - Is it not bad enough? - No visible dead people?

Thanks. You're right.

* it's not perfect but it is progress *

Years ago Yom, on Thai visa Forum, there was a Swedish gentleman who was at one time a wing commander in the Swedish air-force. When he came to Thailand he started to get involved in trying to understand the pollution situation here and he started up a number of threads on the subject. At that time and I'm talking 2005 or so, there were only five pollution monitors in Chiang Mai, four fixed and one mobile, none of them could measure PM2.5 which at the time could only be calculated from the PM10 reading. As knowledgeable and intelligent as he was he refused to accept the concept of wind blown pollution from other countries, but there again neither did anyone else, people said the idea was nothing more than deflection. Now today, the idea of cross border pollution is mainstream and accepted by everyone, my how times change.

Today is the first day we can see at least an outline of the mountains

left and right of the Yom valley. The PM2.5 concentration 20 km north

of Phrae: only 16 ug/m3   -   AQI 59.   It's a holiday.

Situation in Phrae seems a bit worse:  52 ug/m3   -   AQI 142

                 Much better now at 11:00   19  ug/m3   -   AQI 65

     Most of the North between 61 and 123 ug/m3   -   AQI 154 - 186,

     but should improve.

Bangkok seems better:  21 - 49 ug/m3   -   AQI 70 - 134

Phrae  22 ug/m3   or   AQI 72   -   I think, this is great.

After all these smoggy, grey and really unhealthy days up North.

But ...

Question in the Central Thailand Forum - 'kanchanaburi-air-quality':
What is the point of this thread? A weather report?

and a clear answer, thanks 'canopy':

Canopy - The air supply that everyone is sharing has been deliberately tainted to the point of negatively impacting the health of the entire population living there. This is no weather report, this is serious, man made, and totally unnecessary. Don't let the fact that this occurs annually and is so long lasting bore you of this topic, these attributes should instead sound the alarm bells even louder.

I'm so glad for Bangkok, particularly for the humans (and animals too)

living in Kanchanaburi.  -  There the AQI is 'down' to 102.

I hope and wish this will remain...

BUT, what is this?  (Screenshots today 17 - 19:00)

Everly Brothers

thanks for your music.

image.png.3e7edbc90c3fe3258464c04f2d050fe1.png  died because of COPD.

This never ever could happen in Thailand!?

By the way, the Everly Brothers always have been one of the

best groups, musically and globally speaking - for ever.

Followed by 'The Shadows' and Cliff Richard.

Next great group I would say 'The Beach Boys'.

Sorry, I forgot to mention so many ...

(just remembered Rickie Nelson, Buddy Holly, Sam Cooke,

Otis, Aretha, Diana, The Beatles, Stones, Johnny Halliday...)

It's a strange world ...

Sorry, almost also forgot PM2.5 TH-North:

I think we all are in the middle of fine dust. Particulate matter...

You don't see it, you can't smell it.

*** So what's the problem? ***

I hope, someone might find out, where all this sh!t

in our neighbourhood comes from. - Thanks.
