Accident Caused by Drunkenness

A drunken foreigner hit people on a walkway along Soi Buakhao, which caused one to be injured; he then fled to hit motorbikes parked beside the road not far off.

He was arrested where he crashed, nearby in Soi Arunothai.

At 4.00am on 2nd April the Pattaya police were informed that someone on the footpath in Soi Buakhao was hit by a motorbike rider who had fled the scene.

When the police arrived, blood was seen on the road and it was found that the injured had already been taken to the hospital. Witnesses stated that the accident was caused by a foreigner who fled on his Mio motorbike.

While the police were questioning witnesses, a report on the radio stated that motorbikes had been hit by a Mio motorbike in Soi New World, which was a short cut from Soi Buakhao to Pattaya 3rd road.

It was not far from where the police were so they went to investigate. At the scene the team found a Honda Wave and Yamaha Nouvo on the road. They were hit by the same Mio motorbike that just hit the person on the footpath. Witnesses stated that a man chased after the farang driver.

Not long after, the police were informed that the foreigner had crashed in Soi Arunothai.

When the police arrived they found a very drunken man praying and talking to himself in front of the 7-Eleven store. He could not give any statement. All the police could catch was that his name is Paul, he is 43 years old, and is from Ukraine. The man made a total fool out of himself.

The police locked him in the cells until he sobers up and then more questioning will be made about the incident.

I'm against violence usually but why can't the Thais deliver some street justice to these drunk drivers causing injury and damage? it's not as if it would be so difficult with mobiles and bikes to coordinate.

Do you think it would make any difference?

There are just as many pissed up Thais riding and driving in this state, believe me. :o

I've said this before somewhere.

When the BiB start locking these idiots up untill the last day of their vacation, then escort them in 'cuffs to their hotel to pay up and pack and then escort them to the airport only removing the 'cuffs after they've passed throuh immigration only then might the message penetrate their thick skulls. The addition of "persona non grata" to their passports would be a little draconian maybe but would, for me, be the icing on the cake.

Still having left the scene of an accident(s) I think he'll find his hangover is the least of his worries.
