REUTERS/Kim Kyung-Hoon TOKYO (Reuters) - A person in Japan who had not visited the Chinese city of Wuhan has contracted the new coronavirus, Japan’s health ministry said Tuesday. The infected man is a tour bus driver in his 60s in the city of Nara, who had contact with visitors from Wuhan between Jan. 8-16, the ministry said on its website. He began showing symptoms on Jan. 14 and was hospitalized on Jan. 25 before being diagnosed, according to the statement. Another man in his 40s who lives in Wuhan was also confirmed to have contracted the virus, the ministry said. The new infections bring the total number of confirmed Japanese cases to six. -- © Copyright Reuters 2020-01-28 Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking Thailand news and visa info
car720
So no question of person to person infection then.
Cryingdick
It's just a scam IMO. The normal flue has infected and killed ten times more than this has. Stay away from Disney parks and Macau Casinos, buy some stakes in Clorox.
Krataiboy
How can anyone be certain the Japanese driver - or any other of the alleged victims worldwide - actually has the latest corona virus, and not just "ordinary" flu or one of the many other infections which can produce similar symptoms? According to a UK newspaper, Britain has developed a test which distinguishes 2019-nCOV from all the other viruses in the same family. But the report was suspiciously short on specifics. Presumably, to be certain of its origins, one would need to find the Wuhan virus or specific antibodies in a patient's blood sample. Has this been achieved, or are we being fed fake news to prevent panic?

I am led to believe that the results we are hearing of are based on blood tests of those involved.

You can test for it. They use something called PCR tests for specific virus types. I read somewhere that Japan and Thailand were the first in Asia to develop local testing. Thailand? Actually Thailand has a well funded gene research industry, in part because genome research is important in agriculture, but also their medical industry. By the sound of it Big Pharma is in for a not entirely unexpected windfall. https://blog.nomorefakenews.com/2020/01/26/vaccine-for-the-china-virus-the-planet-is-the-guinea-pig-for-a-vast-experiment/
