White Christmas13
So I have to go for vascular surgery in a month time,I have problems with blood circulation in my legs (feet) I know it might be different in Thailand but all I like to know who had it done, and how long does it takes. Can I walk shortly after surgery or will I be bedridden for a while? I don't have anybody to pick me up from the hospital, yes I can take a taxi, but will I be allowed to walk after surgery? I had a cardio version done a couple of years ago ( which took only a few hours) but I was not allowed to drive after that. So anybody with any experience ? Sheryl
You need to be more specific as to type of surgical procedure. If it is a fem-pop bypass you will be in the hospital about a week and then need to rest at home several weeks more. During that time will be able to stand and walk short distances. Much longer recovery than for a cardiac stent
White Christmas13
Thanks Sheryl Unfortunately they have not giving me any particular information what type of surgery it is, all it says vascular surgery. As I mentioned before I only have some problems with circulation in my legs every thing else is fine. I had a Doppler ultra scan done and from what I have seen only the circulation in my legs was somehow restricted so I can't answer your question what type of surgery it is. Sheryl
It will most likely be fem pop bypass as I described. It is more invasive than cardiac stent. 1 -2 weeks in hospital etc. You should have this done somewhere that you have people to help cate for you afterwards. Some possinility that it is not nypass by rather they will attempt endarectomy first which is less invasive but not aleays successful. Is it not possible to get it done in your home country? Or bring a Thai speaker with you to the doctor to find out the type if surgery etc? I eould personally not be comfortable undergoing major surgery (which this is) without knowing the type of procedure, risks etc first.
